Littleton lies along the South Platte River with the majestic, snow-capped Southern Rocky Mountains to the West. It is a friendly, forward-thinking community which values its past, keeps a solid footing in the present and embraces its future in equal measure.

Littleton was founded back in the heady days of the 1859 Pike’s Peak Gold Rush. In 1890, a grand total of 245 citizens voted to incorporate into a town. One hundred and twenty-five years and a little over 40,000 citizens later, Littleton makes every effort to keep that past visible. The Littleton Historical Preservation Board watchdogs continuing efforts to restore and maintain diverse city landmarks ranging from an 1875 Railroad Depot to a 1901 flour mill built on land owned by the town’s founding father, Richard Little. Many of the buildings on Main Street have landmark designations, and homeowners living in older residences take great pride in restoring them to their original appearance. The Littleton Museum features two restored 19th century farmhouses and a blacksmith shop along with a heritage herd of Navajo sheep and a team of oxen. Littleton’s hometown celebration, Western Welcome Week, showcases cowboys and cowgirls, farm tractors, vintage airplanes and cars along with lots of great food.

Stepping out of the past into the present, there’s a modern light-rail link to downtown Denver, an Immigrant Resources Center, affordable living complexes and free municipal transportation for Seniors. There’s even a Snow Squad of volunteers who help elderly residents dig out from under those infamous Colorado blizzards. If any or all of the above makes Littleton a place you might want to call home, contact a them for Real Estate in Littleton CO.

As to the future, the environment remains high on the town’s list of concerns. The South Platte River Enhancement Project is an ongoing effort to restore the natural habitat and health of the river that flows through town. And the South Platte Working Group is constantly on the lookout for Littleton CO Real Estate that can be purchased and designated as open space. The masthead on the town’s homepage proclaims Littleton is “Anything but Little”. Given Littleton’s past, present and future, those are well-chosen words.
