Disinfecting wipes are single use fabric wipes which come from the manufacturer pre-moistened with a solution that destroys bacteria. Bulk disinfecting wipes are packed in canisters or tubs that allow users to pull one wipe at a time. Some wipes, like the wipes used in gyms, are used for sanitizing surfaces such as exercise equipment. Others are great replacements for soap and water when a quick cleanup is needed. These wipes are readily available from online retailers as well as many drug stores. However, drug stores rarely stock bulk disinfecting wipes.

When used correctly, quality bulk disinfecting wipes can be extremely effective at killing most bacteria on a surface upon contact. These wipes must not be used multiple times nor should a single wipe be used to clean a large surface. It is best to use multiple wipes so that the bacteria is indeed killed and not transferred from one place to another.

Most avid fans of the gym already have good habits when it comes to hygiene, but it never hurts to reinforce them. Perhaps two of the most important things you can do are carrying a bottle of alcohol that you can use on your hands and using disinfecting wipes on any equipment before you use it. Everyone likes to think that when a person gets off the equipment that he or she will wipe it down but in practice this does not always happen so make sure you use wipes which are normally available in tubs sitting close by the equipment.

It is not only the exercise equipment than can spread and harbor bacteria, there are a few other things that you need to be aware of to keep yourself safe while at the gym.

Experts recommend that you should only use a metal water bottle as plastic is a material that has the tendency to hold bacteria. You also have to keep your eye on your water bottle as people have the tendency to mistakenly grab whichever bottle is closest. Keep your gym bag clean, once you get home empty your bag and disinfect with wipes and have your sweaty clothes separated from the rest of the pile until laundry day.
