If you operate a business of any size, you might be able to benefit from a legal bill audit. If you notice that your legal fees are quit excessive and you are not sure about some of the services you have been charged for, a legal bill audit can prove extremely helpful. This audit is conducted to locate excessive expenses, duplicate expenses, inappropriate and unnecessary attorney fees. All of which can result in very expensive legal fees. Every audit is conducted differently. They are based on the circumstances involving why the client is requesting a review of the charges and only deal with ‘facts’. This is also why it is necessary to use other attorneys in the process. They help in getting to the truth surrounding the circumstances of the audit. They help to provide you with a more accurate and complete analysis of the cost that the client has incurred.

What Will Be Analyzed

If you receive a bill that appears inaccurate, the company providing the audit will go over the bill line by line. They will do this because they are looking for possible duplicate charges or services that were never rendered. If there is no one making an audit of the fees being charged, a company may continue being billed for things that they shouldn’t, until it is caught by an outside source. Another thing that will be analyzed will be the time and expenses a client is being charged. An audit can prove, with certainty, that the time spent on the clients case is incorrect and that there is no record of the time indicated in the clients file. These two things alone could add up to thousands of dollars being billed to a client. Finally, if you suspect that you are being charged in excess of what is typical for the type of service offered, this will be taken into consideration. If the auditing service finds this to be the case they will present this for review and try to get the rate reduced. The process varies from each service provider. However, most will begin the process by entering the expenses and time associated with your case into a computer file for the initial analysis. It is suggested that you find out exactly how extensive the company’s process is for performing their job. This may help you to decide on which service provider you would like use.
