One minute, everything is perfect—it’s sunny, your coffee is warm and you had a good night’s sleep. The next, you’re seeing someone take a bad fall or choke on their food. Without the proper training, that situation could turn into a bad one pretty quick. Here’s what you can do to make sure you can offer much-needed help when these emergencies happen:

  1. Have Your First Aid Kit Ready At All Times
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention or CDC recommends stocking up on the necessary first aid kit supplies. That way, if someone gets into an accident—ending up with a cut or wound—you can immediately treat and dress the wound before taking the person to the hospital. For deep cuts that might need stitches, a first-aid dressing can keep the cut from being infected. By preventing infection from setting in, you can help the victim recover that much faster.
  2. Take A Training Course
Get yourself into a first aid certification course. That way, you can learn all you can about life-saving measures. By knowing how to administer CPR and other forms of first aid, you’d have a much better chance to help out someone in dire need. Who knows? You might have to call upon these skills in the future to save a friend or family.
  3. Call 911
Don’t have a clue what to do? Always remember to call 911, first thing. That way, even if you don’t know how to provide first aid, you can count on help arriving quickly.

So know how to deal with emergencies. Explore the many ways you could learn how to carry out first aid measures. It might just be what you need to make a difference in your loved one’s health in the future.
